If something looks wrong inside the app, open Settings → Help → Share diagnostics and attach what it gives you. It contains timings and error codes only: no photograph, no filename, no text read from your screenshots, and no location.
Common questions
Where do my photos go?
Nowhere. PhotoShelf reads the photos the operating system gives it access to, works everything out on the device, and stores what it learns in its own database on that device. It has no server to send anything to.
Why does it want access to all my photos?
Because the shelves are built from the whole roll, not just the Screenshots album — a photographed bill or an ID card is a photograph, not a screenshot. You can grant access to a selection instead; the app works, with less to work from, and says so.
It is taking a long time to go through my library.
The first pass reads every photo once, and on a large library that is hours rather than minutes. It runs while the app is open and continues in the background where iOS allows it. Leave it on the charger overnight and it will be much further along. It only does this once per photo.
Something is on the wrong shelf.
Tell it. Corrections are how it learns, and the correction stays on your phone like everything else. If a whole category is consistently wrong, please email — that is the most useful thing you can send.
"Clear" and "Delete" are different.
Clear takes something off the app's shelves and leaves it in Photos. Delete removes it from your phone, through the system's own confirmation, and it goes to Recently Deleted where you have 30 days to change your mind.
What is the vault?
Documents that look like identity papers are kept behind your device passcode or Face ID, and the app never shows a preview of one — not even blurred. Identifier numbers are masked to the last few characters before anything is written down.
Does it need the internet?
No. On the free plan the ad banner needs a connection, and nothing else does. Everything the app knows about your photos it worked out offline.
How do I turn off photo locations?
Settings → Privacy → Keep photo locations. Turning it off does not just stop the app reading them — it erases every coordinate the app has already stored.
Refunds and billing
Purchases are handled entirely by Apple. Refunds go through reportaproblem.apple.com; the app cannot issue one and has no record of your payment.
